By George! — He’s back

George & Co. retrieving a hay bale

George Feister, our friendly neighborhood farmer, was retained by our township for another five years to farm their preserved parkland.  Hooray hooray, and our parking field has already been cut by George in exchange for the hay and it’s gorgeous.  Good to go for Grounds for Music on June 18th.  If you recall George is the inspiration for our blog title, Action in the Country, because it harkens back to my roots  growing up in Chester County where almost everything was farmland.  Watching him and his co-workers do this crucial work is such a joy - machine and men work fields into beautiful land sculptures that help feed people and animals.  Thanks again George for being such a mensch to us over the years.  Other action in the country:

RV Industries —which was LG Industries , my Dad’s machine shop , until he sold it in ‘78 - was sold to Roberts Water Filtration systems.  Lot’s of action happening there.  RV is still leasing out one of the building.  Verrry interesting transition.

Down Water Works Rd., $23 million worth of gov’t stimulus money is revamping the whole water filtration system for Coatesville by Pennsylvania American, the largest global water corp.  From the  viewpoint of the “engineers on foot” - meaning us-as we walk by every morning and check out the progress, it’s  fascinating and veddy veddy interesting.  We surmise  from what we see that the plant was probably neglected by the Coatesville Water Authority over the years.  A byzantine array of strange tubes and pipes venting out of the orig. plant windows.  Water oozing through sci-fi looking bladders and off of hillsides, yet to be secured.

Meanwhile at Layton Park yesterday was the annual Amish community picnic.  They take over the park and play sports and eat all day long, w/ their horses tied in the field across the street. Beautiful sight.

Meanwhile the country club is its beautiful self and just won an award from a bridal association for great receptions.   I grew up hacking away at that course and knew that golf was not in my future.
