“Capitalism B. Dead” - No. 1 One Album With a Bullet

Here’s our review of this album by P.I.S.T., the angry revolutionary punk/rap/trance  band,  featuring the most prescient buncha of songs you’d ever want.   We hate/loved it so much that instead of 4 stars, we give it 4 buckets of throw-up.

song #1:  Capitalism B. Dead ( a Johnny B. Good update). Penned on meltdown Monday - October 4,  2008.   A groovy beat but it still  leaves you feelin’ broke by the last note.

#2:  “Runnin’ On Empty”  A new fix on Jackson Brown’s mellow ’70s number to match our bank and mutual fund accounts.

#3  “We Want a New System (to Huey Lewis’  “I Want a New Drug”)

#4  “Hey Brother, can you Spare Me a Bailout?”  A tasty reprise of the Depression-era hit w/  some great guitar licks by Boz Skaggs.

#5  “What Condition My Condition is In”  A whiny cover of Kenny Roger’s toe in the psychedelic water tune.

#6  “Splish, Splash, We Took a Bath”  Great tune about our savings and home values but it involves the toilet, not the bathtub.

#7  “Down On Flunky Street”  A new take on one of Deb’s all-time faves, Funky Street by Arthur Conley.  With a great backbeat, sums up how the lower 98% of us feel.

#8 “Stuck In The Middle With You”  A song about the class, dat’s disappearing faaaast.

#9  “Strange Brew (kills what’s inside of you)”  Reprise of Cream’s  megahit that describes what the Tea Party serves up.  Constant Coma anyone?

#10  “Necessary Evil (so they say)”  A hit song from the ’90s by our band Machine From Heaven.  Still on the money 20 years later.

Greg’s wrap-up rap:  After the Meltdown the people who caused this world-wide financial calamity got bailed out (socialism) and laughed all the way to the bank.  Without creating any jobs, they’re still takin’ those giant salaries and bonuses and sitting on 3.5 trillion dollars of profit generated by the people who are still working like serfs.  And we call those still with jobs the lucky ones?  I propose a peaceful flash mob in D.C. and around the country in every state capital for Election Day.  We want our democracy back.  We call the new economy we-the-People create anything we want.  I’ll call it banana after my favorite fruit.  Plus,  it tastes good on cereal and gets me going in the morning.

Deb’s wrap-up :   You can’t fix stupid…
